Crime & Punishment in Ankh-Morpork
Ankh-Morpork is novel in the fact that theft is allowed, provided you have a licence from the Thieves' Guild. The Ankh-Morpork watch will do nothing about any theft within the city walls. The Thieves' Guild, on the other hand, will take a very serious stance on unlicensed theft.
Only thieves who are no t on leave of absence can steal in Ankh-Morpork. If you try you will, probably, regret it.
The watch does take other crimse seriously. Once can find themselt in hot water for a variety of reasons including:
- public miming
- fighting in public
- insulting an officer of the watch
- molesting an officer of the watch
- resisting arrest
- vandalism
- jailbreaking
- anything else the coppers make up and stick to you
